Without fail every 12 months (by law) landlords must have gas appliances checked for safety by a GAS SAFE registered installer in properties they let.

If you live in rented accommodation, you should ask your landlord for written proof of this check. Landlords are legally obliged to provide you with this information.

Once the annual service has been carried out, A Gas Safety Certificate will be issued to the landlord which includes a tenant copy, the certificate will contain the gas servicing company details, date of the service and will also have a list of the checks carried out by the Gas Safe engineer logging any faults found and the repairs required.
